hey here’s another link about how fucking awful terrible bad X11 and the window-management facilities built on top of it are.

luckily: most of the ICCCM was revised, replaced, or supplemented by the somewhat saner EWMH spec—that’s the spiritual progenitor of what’s planned to come to Wayland in the mid-future and where the current notions X11 has of “maximized”, “minimized”, “fullscreen”, etc. come from.
